Once the polyurethane sealant adhesive dries correctly, its performance and impermeability will allow the installation to resist different exposures.

✅ PROTECTIVE COATING

In which cases is it necessary to use protective coating? What would be the recommended one?

The use of protective coating in the installation of Piedrafina sheets will be in some cases mandatory and in other cases optional.

It will be mandatory as long as It is necessary to waterproof the substrate on which the coating has been placed and the installation will be exposed to the elements, water or humidity. Cases like this would be outdoor placements, showers, kitchens.

It will be optional in cases in which the application of the protective coating is carried out for aesthetic purposes or practical purposes not directly related to waterproofing from water or humidity. Cases like this would be placements in which we want to facilitate cleaning due to being exposed to certain dirt, cases of high sun exposure, to delay the discoloration of UV rays, cases of exposure to saltpeter or the possibility of impact such as hail.

The recommended protective coating to use is water-based protective coating for rustic stones. We have the PF-62 that can be requested from representatives, but any recommended quality that has the same components and characteristics can also be used.

If rigid pastes are used to fill the joint, whether due to the available colors or some other reason, it is recommended to previously test the volume or thickness of the ideal filler to ensure that it does not run the risk of breaking, cracking or cracking quickly.
